The fourth section of the Lewis & Clark Bicycle Trail begins in Dickinson, North Dakota. The route follows the I-94 corridor, alternating between the interstate and parallel county roads.

In eastern Montana, it stays south of the Missouri River. This stretch of Fort Peck Lake and the river has several designations: Charles M. Russell National Wildlife Refuge, Upper Missouri National Wild and Scenic River and, more recently, Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument.

There are very few river access roads on this map section. For a closer look, ask one of the guides listed on the map who offer excursions. Services are also scarce in eastern Montana, so plan your days accordingly.

The terrain remains rolling or hilly. At the end of the section, in Great Falls, the Front Range of the Rockies appears on the western horizon.

Adventure Cycling maps are created by cyclists, for cyclists, and rank among the best available for those seeking discovery and adventure.
