The Appalachian Trail (AT) Map Pack Bundle of Vermont, New Hampshire includes two topographic map guides that cover the AT in these two very distinct states. Vermont's landscape is a variety of forested mountains, white pine and paper birch forests, and rolling terrain interspersed with fields and pastures. To the north and east, the trail traverses short, steep hills and overgrown farmland that characterize the Connecticut River Valley. Farther south lies the rugged, rocky high country of the Green Mountains. The crossing into New Hampshire is considered one of the most challenging sections of the trail, with long stretches above tree line and the possibility of rapid changes in temperature and snow at any time of year. But despite its difficulty, the trail offers some of the most spectacular scenery in New England as it leaves the Connecticut River Valley to cross the White Mountains, a highlight of the trail. Each AT map guide includes detailed topographic maps.
