Cycle and e-bike tours exploring the heritage, nature and landscapes of southeastern Occitanie: Gard, Hérault, Aude, Ariège, Haute-Garonne and Tarn.
Exploring a region by bike is an environmentally responsible way to travel. Electric assistance opens cycle touring to more people, whatever the terrain. You do not need to be a highly trained, experienced cyclist to enjoy the places along the way at a relaxed pace, close to nature.
Passionate about his region, Philippe Calas explores varied scenery from the Mediterranean beaches to the slopes of the Pyrenees, via the Canal du Midi, the vineyards of the Languedoc plain, Cathar Country, coastal lagoons, scrubland and limestone plateaux in inland Hérault, and the forests of the Montagne Noire.
He has devised nine point-to-point or circular itineraries of two to six days, with many alternatives. They can be sampled as day rides or combined into longer trips. Together they total at least 1,800 km, from about 100 km over a weekend to a little over 300 km over most of a week.
The rides mostly follow small roads with as little traffic as possible, with occasional compacted surfaces or dirt tracks. The fairly mild, often sunny climate allows riding through much of the year.
