La Vélidéale from Limousin to the Atlantic: 665 waymarked kilometres in 18 stages.
Opened in 2024, the route starts in Creuse, crosses Haute-Vienne, Charente, Deux-Sèvres and northeastern Vendée, and finishes in Loire-Atlantique. Its quiet alignment stays away from traffic, passing varied landscapes, villages with remarkable heritage and parks rich in biodiversity.
Saint-Léonard-de-Noblat, Limoges and Melle are among the towns mentioned for their UNESCO-listed treasures. The journey moves from Romanesque to Gothic art, urban areas to wild nature, and mountain terrain to hedged countryside and vineyards, with a selection of sights not to miss.
Presented as the first Véloguide for this itinerary, the book follows a route that intersects or shares sections with La Scandibérique, EuroVelo 3, La Vélo Francette, Vendée Vélo Tour, the Loire Cycle Route and La Vélodyssée.
It includes an elevation profile for the whole route, 20 must-see points of interest, practical addresses after each stage and an index of towns and municipalities along the way.
