The Via Francigena, "the road of the French" to Rome, has been recognized as a cultural route by the Council of Europe. It includes many variants, including that of Sigeric, Archbishop of Canterbury. Around 990, he went to the Pope to receive the pallium. He kept a diary of his return journey, from Rome to
Canterbury, testifying to the existence of this path even before the first descriptions of the routes to Compostela.

We invite you to follow the Italian part of Sigeric's pilgrimage, from the mythical Great St Bernard Pass to Rome, in the footsteps of the pilgrims who went to the tomb of St Peter.

Still relatively unfrequented, but increasingly well signposted and equipped with accommodation, the Via Francigena offers varied landscapes and an exceptional heritage. You will have time to discover the magnificent landscapes of the Alps and Tuscany, as well as the treasures of Lucca, Siena and, of course, Rome.

The quality of a Lepère guide means:
- A verified path, covered on foot
- Experienced walkers: 25 years of experience
To set off with complete peace of mind, you will find a precise description of the itinerary, a presentation of the stages, 1:50,000 topographic maps, a map of the main towns, verified accommodation, cultural and historical notes and GPS tracks for the stages.
