Frequently asked questions

Can I hang a wall map without making holes in the wall?
Yes, if your map is supplied without a hanging system. Reusable adhesive putty, such as Patafix®, is a simple solution that works well for many paper maps. It can usually be removed without leaving marks on the wall. For laminated maps or large-format maps, however, this solution may be less effective due to the map's weight and rigidity. Some of our wall maps are also available with wooden hanging rails or aluminium rails. In that case, only one or two wall fixing points are generally needed, depending on the size of the map.
Is double-sided tape a good option?
Yes. Double-sided adhesive tape provides a stronger hold than adhesive putty, especially for large-format maps. Be sure to choose a tape that is suitable for your wall surface, as some adhesives may leave marks or damage the paint when removed.
Can I use push pins to hang my map?
Yes. Push pins are a simple and reliable solution, especially if the map is intended to remain on display for a long time. However, they will leave small holes in the map.
Is there a more decorative way to hang a wall map?
Yes. You can display your map using two thin wooden rails, one at the top and one at the bottom. This helps keep the map flat while creating an attractive decorative display.
Can I frame my wall map?
Yes. A paper wall map can be framed to protect it and give it an elegant finish. Before purchasing a frame, however, be sure to check the exact dimensions of the map. Depending on where it was manufactured, it may have non-standard dimensions that do not match commercially available frames. It is therefore advisable to make sure a suitable frame is available. Otherwise, a custom-made frame may be required, which is generally more expensive.
My map arrived rolled up. How can I flatten it?
If your map is delivered in a tube, carefully slide it out rather than pulling it, to avoid damaging the edges. Then gently unroll it and leave it flat on a clean surface for a few hours. You can also roll it loosely in the opposite direction for a few minutes to reduce the curl. Once mounted on the wall or placed in a frame, it will gradually flatten out naturally.
What is the best way to hang my wall map?
The best solution depends on the result you are looking for. If you want to avoid making holes in the wall, reusable adhesive putty is suitable for smaller maps, while double-sided tape is a better option for larger ones. For a simple and secure installation, you can use push pins. For a more decorative finish, we recommend wooden hanging rails or a frame.
Are hanging systems included with the map?
Most of our wall maps are supplied rolled, without a hanging system. You can then choose the mounting method that best suits your home or office: adhesive putty, double-sided tape, push pins, wooden hanging rails or framing. We also offer a wide selection of wall maps already fitted with wooden hanging rails or aluminium rails. These models are more expensive, but they provide a ready-to-hang solution with no extra hassle and are very easy to install as soon as you receive them. Whenever a hanging system is included, this is clearly stated in the product description.
