Each route has its own topographic map and elevation profile, with walking time, distance, difficulty level, vegetation, sights and links to other trails. Photographs and a route description provide further detail.
The new hiking guide, with a 1:25,000 map of Taygetos, describes 18 routes, grouped by area: the Laconian, Messenian, central and northern sides of Taygetos, as well as ancient routes that crossed the mountain in antiquity.
The 18 routes cover all difficulty levels:
- GREEN = EASY.
- BLUE = INTERMEDIATE.
- RED = DEMANDING.
- BLACK = VERY DIFFICULT.
Difficulty depends on elevation, length and terrain type.
