The Båven, Marvikarna and Yngern skating map includes Sörmland's best waters for skating. It focuses on skaters' needs, putting ice at the centre to make planning and carrying out a skating trip easier.

Ice formation is shown in coloured, numbered zones according to the usual freezing order. Ice assessment is supported by markings for ruts, currents, shipping channels and other ice warnings. Recommended starting points, parking areas, overland crossings and occasionally navigable waterways make trips easier.

The map was developed in close collaboration with Mårten Ajne, one of Sweden's most experienced and knowledgeable skaters, who authored, among other works, the reference book Stora boken om longfärdsskridsko. More than fifty years of ice and weather data were combined with the collective experience of skating clubs.

The book Skrinnarens guide till sjöarna i Östra Svealand provides an in-depth understanding of how knowledge of different ice-formation zones can be used when planning and undertaking skating trips in the area.

The publisher considers Tyvek® the best material for a map. Its synthetic fibres make it completely unaffected by water and highly tear-resistant. A Tyvek map does not split along the folds or lose colour with use.
