GR®54: Tour de l'Oisans et des Écrins
Follow in the pioneers' footsteps on the only route leading to the foot of the Southern Alps' legendary peaks: La Meije, Barre des Écrins and Le Sirac. With 190 kilometres, 14 passes and 12,000 metres of ascent, this is a challenging, wild route. Created in 1965, it lies mostly within the core zone of Écrins National Park, inviting you to discover unique landscapes and exceptional, protected wildlife and flora.
Les Balcons des Écrins
Designed for those wishing to discover the Écrins massif at their own pace, these routes take you from valleys to villages, offering accessible views of the massif while keeping its high peaks in sight.
- Tour Gourmand: accessible trails into the heart of the Oisans massif, with a different mountain speciality to taste each day along the accommodation stops. 5 days / 39 km / 3285 m ascent.
- Tour de la Bérarde: discover the cradle of mountaineering, close to the high mountains, and experience its exceptional atmosphere on an accessible route. 4 days / 39 km / 2085 m ascent.
- Tour du Combeynot: step back to discover the northern Écrins and views of its most beautiful glaciers through varied mountain landscapes. 4 days / 44 km / 1815 m ascent.
- Tour des Refuges en Valgaudemar: an unmatched Himalayan atmosphere on an alpine hike from hut to hut, bringing you close to the high mountains. 7 days / 61 km / 4500 m ascent.
- GR® de Pays du Tour du Vieux Chaillol: circles Vieux Chaillol (3,163 m) between the Champsaur and Valgaudemar valleys. From high passes to valleys, it offers varied, impressive views of the Écrins. 5 days / 92 km / 4070 m ascent.
- Tour du Taillefer: passes between historic hamlets and high mountain crossings, introducing traditional mountain life and the protected species and unique landscapes of the Taillefer plateau. 7 days / 77 km / 3550 m ascent.
- Tour du Plateau d'Emparis: with Lake Chambon below and the majestic Écrins peaks above, this accessible hike through alpine pastures leads to one of the finest views of the Écrins glaciers. 3 days / 26 km / 1500 m ascent.
