Section 2 of the Washington Parks Bicycle Route begins in Elma, heads east into central Washington, then loops north and west to Sedro-Woolley.

It forms one half of a large loop. Map 1 shows the other half, linking Washington's western coast with its central desert.

Early in the route, Mount Rainier draws steadily closer until you enter its namesake national park. The climb is fairly consistent, at 5 to 8%, before leaving the park and descending towards the Yakima River.

Ellensburg is a useful place to rest and resupply before the next major climb: Blewett Pass at 4,102 feet.

Take time to enjoy North Cascades National Park. The route then broadly follows the Skagit River to Sedro-Woolley.

Adventure Cycling maps are created by cyclists, for cyclists, and rank among the best available for those seeking discovery and adventure.

The maps reflect the association's research as well as suggestions...
