National Geographic's Trails Illustrated Pisgah National Forest map pack covers cascading waterfalls, heavily forested slopes and peaks described in the source as several kilometres high.

Spanning more than 500,000 acres, Pisgah is primarily hardwood forest, with whitewater rivers, waterfalls and hundreds of kilometres of trails. It contains the first tract bought under the Weeks Act of 1911, which led to the establishment of national forests in the eastern United States.

It is also home to the country's first forestry school, preserved at the Cradle of Forestry in America historic site, and two of the first designated wilderness areas in the eastern United States.

The Pisgah, Grandfather and Appalachian Ranger Districts extend along the eastern edge of western North Carolina's mountains, offering many opportunities for outdoor recreation and enjoying the scenery. The maps show miles of trails.
