Kveen and its Finnish border neighbor, Paattivuono, are the northeasternmost municipalities in Norway, thriving on the sea, fishing, and the fishing industry. For hikers, they offer miles and miles of uninhabited, tidal coastline, arctic hills, and hiking trails.
The village of Kongsfjord, with its idyllic lodges, is particularly popular with birdwatchers. It survived World War II unscathed. There's an inn at the Kjönes Lighthouse, which is over 100 years old.
