Guidebook - Way of St. James via Arles: Toulouse - Jaca | FFRandonnée

This official FFRandonnée guidebook describes the last French section of the Via Tolosana (GR®653) between Toulouse and Jaca, in Spain. In over 20 days of walking, this emblematic itinerary leads pilgrims through the landscapes of Gascony, Béarn, and the Pyrenees up to the Somport Pass.

Unique among the great Roads to Santiago, it crosses the Pyrenees via the Somport Pass (1,632 m), the highest point of all the Jacobean routes connecting France to Spain.

🥾 The Itinerary

Starting from Toulouse, the GR®653 crosses:

• Gascony and its villages of character
• Northern Bigorre
• Béarn
• The Aspe Valley
• The Somport Pass
• Spanish Aragon up to Jaca

It then joins the Camino Francés, one of the main Routes to Santiago de Compostela in Spain.
