A regional link too: the GR 129 South once again runs successively through Condroz, Famenne, Ardennes, Gaume and Lorraine. It winds through characteristic landscapes and passes through villages where traditional housing is still specific. For example, one only has to compare the architecture and layout of farms in Condroz, Famenne, Ardennes, Gaume and Lorraine.
Finally, a link between small towns, villages or hamlets, or charm to (re)discover. To reach Arlon, leaving from Dinant, the hiker will cross, among others, Lavaux-Saint-Anne, Wellin, Maissin, Lacuisine, Florenville, Orval, Virton, Messancy…
Essentially rural, forested and country, this GR will delight lovers of the environment, ornithologists or biologists, herpetologists or botanists... but also all those who are passionate about history and heritage.
Among many others, some “high places” encountered:
-The Gros Tienne nature reserve in Lavaux-Saint-Anne or, in Torgny, the “Raymond Mayné” reserve, or that of Laclaireau not far from Buzenol.
-The Cistercian abbeys of Orval and Clairefontaine.
-The ancient sites of the Château des Fées and Chameleux.
-The La Besace Museum in Wanlin, the Gaume Museums in Virton and Montquintin, the Archaeological Museum in Arlon.
-The castles of Lavaux-Sainte-Anne, Vêves and Montquintin.
-And so many others…
