This guide introduces you to one of the least-known European cycling routes. The area covered allows you to travel the main section, which runs from Montluçon to Tours, along or near the Berry Canal. An alternative route, from Marseilles-lès-Aubigny to Bannegon, allows you to take a variation on the Berry Canal, from the Loire à Vélo.
In the heart of France, the Berry Canal offers cyclists towpaths, lock houses, and numerous vineyards. The author chose, when the passages were too tricky to stay as close as possible to the canal, to trace a route on the nearest low-traffic roads. The guide is divided into 16 stages, each between 12 and 29 km, so that everyone can complete it at their own pace.
