This upside-down world map puts south at the top and the Americas at the centre, to look at the planet differently: South America and Antarctica dominate, while Europe and Asia end up at the bottom. It uses the Equal Earth projection, which shows every country and continent at its true size, and which the United Nations General Assembly encouraged on 4 September 2026. Designed by cartographer Tom Patterson, co-creator of the projection, it is printed to order in our Premium Edition collection, close to you: in Germany for Europe, in Canada for North America.

Available in English or Spanish (Spanish translation by Pedro Zurita-Zaragoza).

🗺️ Map content

South at the top: an orientation that challenges our reading habits

Equal Earth equal-area projection: continents and countries at their true relative size

Countries and territories, capitals and major cities, with more than 2,600 names

Shaded relief of the continents, oceans and major seas

Charts of country areas and populations

📐 Two sizes available

Original size — 140 × 74 cm (55 × 29 in) — the size intended by the author, for maximum visual impact and readability

Reduced size — 98 × 52 cm (39 × 20 in) — the same map reduced to 70% for smaller spaces; the smallest names are best read up close

📌 Available finishes

Gallery-quality satin photo print — printed to order close to you and shipped in a tube: in Germany on Fujifilm Crystal Archive DP II satin photo paper for Europe, in Canada on 240 gsm satin photo paper for North America.
