Les difficultés techniques et le dénivelé, tant positif que négatif, du chemin des marcheurs ne permettraient pas à un grand nombre de randonneurs à vélo de passer sans s'y épuiser, de beaucoup marcher à côté du vélo chargé de bagages ou de risquer de chuter. Le parcours proposé n'est pas un parcours de VTT cross-country, mais il est dans l'esprit du Chemin qui consiste à rallier Saint-Jacques-de-Compostelle (Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port dans un premier temps) de la meilleure façon possible tout en agrémentant son voyage de belles découvertes.
